Some of the videos have a local flavour, and the CD will have more local appeal if some of these are refilmed. Sometimes it's apparent through the accents of the participants. For example, some of the contributors to the West Midlands Edition of the CD have strong West Midlands accents - great if you live in West Bromwich, but not so appealing to a user elsewhere. The videos also feature the hospitals in which they were filmed, so the West Midlands edition has shots of the QEII Hospital in Birmingham, and Waldegrave in Coventry.
The on-body print and the packaging detailed design is also changed; and just a minor point, the CD-ROM is badged for the SHA for which it is produced, and that is changed for each edition too. We can also supply your local version with the video content revoiced in an ethnic minority language, such as Urdu, Bengali or Gujerati. |
What will it cost? The basic cost to change all the local links, redesign the on-body and packaging print, change the badging, review and up-date all the content is £5000. The cost of changing or remaking each video will depend on the cost of the reshoot, for example, a scripted drama with actors, like the Mental Health Nursing video, will cost more than a "Fly-on-the wall" style. You should budget £3000 per video. Translating and revoicing the entire video content in an ethnic minority language will cost £7500 per language. Each copy of the disk, bought in quantities of 10,000, will cost 99p each including on-body print in a clear PVC wallet, or £1.25 each packaged in a printed card pocket.

Is it cost-effective? Yes, it's excellent value for money. To produce a careers resource of this scope, this depth and this degree of sophistication from scratch would cost around £100,000. It can be yours for as little as £5000. A typical SHA spend on localising is in the region of £20 - 30,000.

How long will it take? The basic localisation package can be turned around in 3 months. For a typical package, with several videos you should allow 6 months.
